Week minus 2 – Pre-Sprint Check

Week Minus 2

Pre-Sprint Check

This week marks a significant shift: you are officially receiving the “baton” from the Challenge Strategist. With the Start-Up Workshop only 14 days away, you are now in the lead. Your mission is to ensure that every designated team member arrives at that workshop feeling curious, motivated, and ready to move from “planning” to “performing”.

Your Key Tasks This Week

Challenge Note

The first priority is to help the Challenge Strategist draft the formal invitation to the 100-Day Team. We call it the Challenge Note. It’s more than just a meeting invite; it’s a call to action that sets the tone for the entire sprint. It defines their specific destination, provides clear guidance from leadership, and — most importantly — grants them the full agency and empowerment to innovate as they see fit.

Need help? Look at last week’s Learning Deep Dive: Preparing the Challenge Note for a step-by-step guide.

Become the "Nudger-in-Chief"

Check in with the Challenge Strategist to see if any 100-Day Challenge recruitment gaps remain. Offer to contact prospective members or their managers directly to help “sell” the vision of the 100-Day Challenge.

One of your most important (and recurring) roles is ensuring momentum.  If the team hasn’t been finalised or the Challenge Note hasn’t been sent, find a respectful yet firm way to nudge the Challenge Strategist. Keep at it until the invitation is in the hands of the team members.

Host a Pre-Workshop Q&A (The "Anxiety Reducer)

New processes can be intimidating. Organise a brief Zoom call or meeting to answer questions about the 100-Day Challenge with the selected team. To prepare, review the Learning Deep Dives on the strategic context of GBVF in South Africa and the gallery of previous challenges to provide real-world examples.

Secure the Venue and Logistics for the Workshop

Confirm the venue is booked and appropriate for high-energy collaboration. Use the Venue Logistics Checklist to ensure the room layout encourages interaction rather than just “listening.”

Prepare the Challenge Strategist

At the end of the week, send a progress update to the Challenge Strategist. This isn’t just about status; it’s about building her confidence in your leadership and showing her that the burden of execution is now shared.
