Week 15 – Getting Ready for the Marathon

Week 15

Transitioning to the Marathon

Congratulations! You have successfully navigated the 100-day sprint. While the “sprint” is over, the work of institutionalising change is a marathon, and you. the Challenge Strategist, are now holding the baton. Your mission over the next few weeks is to bring meaningful closure to your Team and strategically design the next “track” of the marathon.

Your Tasks This Week and in the Coming 2-3 Weeks

Bring Closure: Honoring the Members

The intensity of a 100-Day Challenge builds unique bonds. Closing this chapter with gratitude is essential to maintaining the “Enabling Environment” you worked so hard to build.

  • The Celebration: Organise a celebratory lunch or dinner for the Team to decompress and reflect on their personal growth.

  • The Formal Commendation: Prepare a formal thank-you note for the Team members. Send copies to their direct managers and senior leadership stakeholders. Use specific highlights and “memorable moments” from the Scale-up Workshop to make these notes authentic and impactful.

  • Targeted Recognition: For Team members who truly “shone,” send private messages directly to their supervisors detailing their specific contributions.

Shaping the Next Track: the Strategic Way Forward

During the Scale-up Workshop, you mapped out several potential paths. It is now time to convert those ideas into a formal strategy.

a) The Core Decisions: Just as you did before the Start-up Workshop, you must now decide:

    • The Focus: What is the next high-priority area for impact?

    • The Team: Who should be recruited for the next round?

    • The Coach: Who will guide the next team?

b) The Strategic Framework: Unlike the first time, you now have a broader framework to work from. You can choose to launch multiple 100-Day Challenges simultaneously (scaling) or sequence them over the next year to build momentum (building).

c)  Recruitment & Growth: This is your opportunity to expand the “End GBVF” movement. Recruit new Challenge Strategists and Team Coaches. Look specifically at your “Short List” from Week 11—current Team Leaders or high-potential members are excellent candidates for future coaching roles.

d) Leadership Consultations: Finalise these decisions through one-on-one briefings or a single leadership work session to ensure everyone is aligned on the “direction of travel”.

e) “Closing the Loop” Note to Leaders: Send a letter to the leaders who participated in the Start-up and Scale-up Workshops thanking them for their support, summarizing the achievements of the Team, and outlining the way forward that builds on the 100-Day Sprint.
