4. Navigating the learning platform

Navigating the Learning Platform

You are in the Introduction Module. The icons that follow the Introduction will take you to each of the Learning Landmarks in the Programme you will complete.  You will find these under “My courses” on the top main menu.  Ambassadors and Team coaches have access to the online learning journey. We use the term Course and Landmark interchangeably.

Landmarks

Each Landmark prepares you for a specific Workshop, except the Exploration landmark, which focuses on the implementation of the 100-Day work plan.

When you click on one of these Landmarks, you will see this:

The home page of each Landmark has an overview of that step in the journey, and then a list of Lessons (See Landmark Content).   These lessons are divided into 3 sections.

Sections

All Workshop Landmarks (the non-Workshop Landmarks are Exploration and Pre-Design), have 3 main sections – Setting the Stage for the workshop, Facilitating  the workshop, and Moving Forward beyond the workshop.  Hover on the section for a brief description.

Setting the Stage

To help you prepare to facilitate the workshop, the Setting the stage deals with conversations, preparations and logistics that you will do before the event.

Workshop

The event section describes in detail the workshop agenda and guidance on how to facilitate each part of the agenda. You will find slide templates, tips and techniques to help you facilitate an engaging workshop.

Moving Forward

After the workshop section there is Moving forward, a guide on follow-up activities after the workshop and start preparing for the next Landmark in the journey.

Lessons

Each Workshop Landmark (Course) is organised into several Lessons.  The first Lesson (Workshop Overview) briefly describes the workshop, what success would look like at the end of it, and the expected outcomes from the Workshop. Lessons also include videos, self-assessments, and tips presented as “What-if” Scenarios.

Progress tracking

After each lesson click on “Mark Complete” to track you progress through the lessons. You earn fuel points and Impact stars for progression and engaging on the platform.

Self Assessments

To help you practice the content or skill you just learned about

What-if's

What-if questions that relate to situations you encounter as an Ambassador. Submit your idea on how to handle a scenario and we will share hints from our experience.

Ambassador toolkit

The last section of each Landmark in an Ambassador Toolkit. This includes two items: downloads and assignments.

Downloads

Useful documents to download in preparation for the workshop and documents to use during your workshop like slides, facilitation guides and agendas.

Assignments

Assignments that Ambassadors need to complete to prepare for the next step in the journey. These also help maintain a library of essential information on each 100-Day Challenge.

Side Menu

In the lessons you have a side menu that gives you an overview of all the lessons in the Landmark for easy navigation.  You can hide the sidebar by clicking on the arrow and also open it up by clicking on the same arrow.

When your nomination is finalised, the learning journey will begin...

Thought starter reflection questions

Jot down thoughts on these questions – to the extent they are relevant to your experience at the session:
  • When did the mood in the event shift from “why are we here?” to “this could be interesting – I am excited to be part of this.” What triggered this shift?
  • When did you have to go “off script” on the agenda or to change the agenda? What triggered this? What did you adjust? How did it go?
  • What was most surprising to you at the event?
  • What new insights did you gain about the issue at hand, and about the way leaders in the system interacted with each other?
  • Where did the conversation get stuck? What got it unstuck?
  • How would you characterise the level of trust among participants in the meeting? To what extent did this shift as the meeting progressed? To what do you attribute this shift, if indeed it happened?

These are 100-Day Challenge Mentors.

They did some work before you received the Challenge Note. This included:

  • Writing the Challenge Note, and making sure that the leaders of all the organisations represented on the team are comfortable with it – and committed to supporting the work of the team
  • Helping the leaders of these organisation recruit you and your colleagues to the team
  • Gathering some baseline data and other information that will help you and your teammates set your 100-Day goal and develop your plan.
  • Making sure all the preparations are made for a successful Lift-Off workshop, when you and your teammates will meet and get your 100-Day Challenge started. This includes venue, facilitation support, food, swags, comms, travel arrangements and whatever else is needed.

Mentors will participate in all or part of the Lift-Off Workshop, mostly at the start to provide context and answer questions, and at the end to give you and your teammates feedback about the goal and plan you develop.

During the 100 days following the Lift-Off Workshop, here’s what the Mentors will do:

  • They will check in every two weeks with the team leaders to see how the team is doing and what support they and the team need.
  • They will keep other organisational leaders informed and engaged during the 100 days, and pull them in to help as needed.
  • They will participate in the last part of the Refuelling Workshop, halfway through the 100 days, to see what additional support the team needs, and to begin to plan with the team for sustainability and scale-up.
  • They will work with the team at the Sustainability Workshop to finalise recommendations on sustaining the results and building on the work of the team.
